Delaware County has selected a county treasurer to succeed Jon Peterson, who died Oct. 10 following an illness.

Michael Ringle is officially the new Delaware County treasurer after being sworn in Monday by county Common Pleas Judge James Schuck.

Ringle, 28, was chosen Thursday by the Delaware County Republican Party Central Committee to replace Jon Peterson, who died Oct. 10 at age 65 following an illness.

Ringle, who previously served as deputy legal counsel in the Ohio treasurer’s office, will complete Peterson’s term, which runs through September 2021.

Ringle also has worked as a state and local tax associate with the accounting firm KPMG in Columbus.

“I look forward to building on the foundation that Treasurer Peterson laid with the capable and dedicated staff of the Treasurer’s Office to safeguard taxpayer dollars,” Ringle said in a written statement. He said he also plans to focus on cybersecurity.

Ringle is a native of Beavercreek in Greene County. He and wife Emily live in Lewis Center.
