I am considering purchasing and installing a drop box for taxpayers to use 24/7. Currently, we do not use one. If you have one I would greatly appreciate your input on the following questions:
1) What is the name of the vendor who sold it to you?
2) What was the approximate cost to purchase and install?
3) Are you happy with it? If not, why?
4) Does it get a lot of usage?
5) Does the public seem to like using it?
6) What are some of the negative comments about it that you receive from the public?
6) Do other offices in your courthouse/office building use it?
7) Do you have any specific advice for me if I do purchase and install one?
If it is not too much trouble, please send along a picture or two of it. That might help me figure out what kind of drop box we need here in Jackson County. Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Medina County starting in 2001, have installed 4 drop boxes- all free standing. One at our admin building and 3 in our largest cities at their city hall. The public really like them. On the due date alone we will have over 1,000 taxpayers use them. No departments use it. Never had any problems with drop boxes. A car hit one in 2018 and we replaced it for $2,478 from American Security Cabinets. Let me know if you want a picture.

Lee. Our drop box was installed long before I because Treasurer so I cannot help with purchasing information. In fact, ours is actually just a slot through our outside wall and drop into a container inside of our building. People use is practically every day throughout the entire year. We do get "mail" for some of the other departments but not a whole lot. So I would have to say that yes, I am happy with it.

Lee, We have had a drop box for many years, so I do not have any current info on purchasing. People do like it and use it frequently. We have only had "other departments" mail in there on a rare occasion and that department has communicated and asked for it. Other departments used it frequently when our building was closed to the public due to covid, but not on a regular basis. Our box is attached to the building, not a free standing, so we check it frequently during collection.
