Tax Suspension List

Hello all,

We are looking at the possibilities of utilizing a Tax Suspension List. Section 323.33 | Delinquent amounts most likely uncollectible except through foreclosure or through foreclosure and forfeiture. Is anyone utilizing the Tax Suspension List? If so, what Tax Software are you utilizing?

Thank you in advance for any feedback or guidance.

Ohio Pays Deposit Information Changing?

Has anyone had an issue with Ohio Pays on deposit information changing for EFT payments to departments? Who is your County administrator for Ohio Pays? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Mobile Home Titles

We have always had the understanding that when stamping a mobile home title for transfer the "RESIDENT COUNTY" on the title should be our County and the mobile home has to be in our system to verify taxes. My County Auditor and County Clerk of Courts are now telling me the "RESIDENT COUNTY" on the title is where the owner resides not where the mobile home resides and that as long as the mobile home is in our system, we have to stamp it for transfer.

We have a title issued in Gallia County; the resident county is Brown County (where the owner lives) but the mobile home is located in Highland County and being taxed in Highland County. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question from Lucas Co Treasurer Webb

With the U.S. Treasury announcement that pennies will soon be phased out, what should our policy be for cash transaction rounding and electronic and/or check transactions?

Things to consider:

  • Cash transactions may need to be rounded to the nearest five cents.
  • Point of sale systems and accounting software may need updates.
  • Electronic transactions (credit, debit, online) are not rounded? Or be consistent and round all things to $0.05?
  • You may need to post signage to inform customers of your rounding method.
  • Staff may need training or guidance to handle cash rounding changes.

How are other counties handling this situation?

Thank you,

Lindsay Webb, Lucas Co Treasurer

Cash Deposits

What method are you utilizing to have your cash deposits delivered to the bank? We currently have an armored car service for cash pickups but the contract increase with the vendor is substantial. I am curious what other counties are utilizing for this service.

Thanks!
